I am just starting a project on a component to take reservations for an annual event. The reservations are open for 3 months a year and have numerous returning guests each year. I want to set up the reservations so that they are always attached to a category and use the built in categories to distinguish between the reservations for each year (i.e. Categories 2021 Event, 2022 Event, 2023 Event, etc.).
Any guidance or examples for how to make it so that, when a menu item for the reservations component is made leads to the reservation form (not a listing of items in a category), a required field for the menu item would be to select a category (drop down list of categories) that will be passed to and associated with the form submission so it can be stored through the model into the database with the item (reservation) attached to the category that was selected when the menu item was created.
I don't see categories in the custom field list.
